Fashion may be defined as a mode or way or manner in which a thing is done or made. It means a slight departure from the usual. In dress it means following the up to date cut and style. Fashions change every day. The rage (fashion) of today becomes the ridicule (an object of fun) of tomorrow. Fashions are a special feature of the modern competitive society. Fashions are said to be tyrannical. They govern us very strictly. They make heavy demands on our time and purse. Sometimes it becomes very difficult for an average man to keep pace with the changing fashions. The West is the land of fashions. The ultra modern fashions come from the movie - land of Hollywood. Paris is also said to be the centre of fashion Fashions are dominating our day - to - day life.

 Fashion parades are held in big cities, Tailors and fashion designers govern the world. Young men and young women like to wear fashion noble dresses to be praised by others. Fashions are on the increase. College students, both boys and girls, pay maximum attention to their clothes. A visit to the present day colleges gives the impression that ours is not a poor country but it is a land of actors and actresses. The students spend much of their time in dressing up. Boys like to look smart and attractive in the presence of girl students. To achieve the object ' they ' put on showy clothes. They wear goggles and fashionable dresses. They wear the hair styles of hippies. Coffee houses, restaurants and bars are their favorite haunts. They keep adjusting their ties and handkerchiefs and pay little attention to class lectures. Some of them even keep a comb in their pockets. College girls outdo boys in looking fashionable. Girls have a natural love for pretty dresses. In the college they get real opportunities to show this love for clothes. Girls want to be to be appreciated and chased by boys. So they put on attractive dresses by which the contours of their bodies are displayed to the advantage of the male eye. Their fashionable dresses are mini I - skirts, bell - bottoms, parallels, flares.

 They use all sorts of cosmetics very s very liberally. Boys want to look like Shah Rush Khan , Selman Khan and Kasha Kumar while girls wish to look like Aishwarya Rai , Priyanka Chopra , Deepika Padukone , Sonakshi Sinha and Bipasha Basu . Studies for students are merely a pastime The girls appear so tempting , desirable and inviting in their clothes . Fashions no doubt add to the charm of a wom woman but act as a great distraction to the male students . Stephen Leacock rightly said, “Men cannot study when women are around.” Fashions among students are not confined only to their dresses. Seeing every picture that is released, visiting the most expensive hotels or even drinking the costliest wine are also part of fashions.

 Students start acting like actors and actresses. They have the stories and songs of films at their finger tips but they are absolutely blank about the context of the story or the poem studied in the class. They even like to smoke in the style of screen actors. They do not know that they are no match for actors. Recover the students discuss films, sports and sex. They have absolutely no interest in al values of life. It is high time that we called a halt to the increasing fashions among dents. It is also the duty of parents to check their wards from adopting extravagant.
