The Road Not Taken Introduction

The Road Not Taken, a poem by Robert Forst is about making choices, and choices  that shape our life. "The road' is the image of the decision made by us. Commonly, we lament the decision settled on by us yet when the decision has been made, it can't be adjusted. Just the future will clarify whether the choice or decision was correct or wrong. What we want is to settle on a best decision.

The poet, while walking in the forest, goes over an intersection where his way separates into two streets, and he needs to pick one of them. Presently the writer is in dilema which street he should take to proceed with his excursion. He remains there for quite a while checking out one of the streets. He tracks down this street as a beaten track. Many individuals had gone on it. It was cut into the undergrowth and nothing was apparent past it.
The writer then, at that point, checks out the other street which was green and appeared to be more unfamiliar. Being brave naturally, he picks the other street and leaves the first for some, other day, knowing completely well that he won't get an opportunity to return to it. The artist feels that this decision will have a significant effect to his future life. Later the artist wishes that he had taken the street he left. This is the incongruity of life. We can't go through every one of the streets accessible to us, regardless of whosoever we might wish to.
 The artist currently feels that after ages from now he would be glancing back at this choice with a 'moan'. He would be telling that since he had taken the more uncommon street, it had a significant effect in his life.
Accordingly, the artist discusses one of the fundamental issues of human existence the issue of settling on the best decision out of a large number. We run over numerous other options or decisions throughout everyday life. However, we can't take up every one of the decisions all at once. Neither would we be able to modify the choice once made by us. Accordingly, it is critical to settle on a best decision on the grounds that our future is vigorously reliant upon it. On the off chance that we neglect to settle on a best choice, our life would be loaded with tragedies. However, in the event that we are adequately lucky to settle on an ideal decision, we would be successful.

شاعر جنگل میں پیدل سفر کرتے ہوئے ایک ایسے سنگم پر آتا ہے جہاں اس کا راستہ دو راستوں میں بدل جاتا ہے اور اسے ان میں سے ایک کا انتخاب کرنا ہوتا ہے۔ اب شاعر اس Dilemma میں ہے کہ وہ اپنا سفر جاری رکھنے کے لیے کون سی راہ اختیار کرے۔ وہ دیر تک وہیں کھڑا کسی ایک سڑک کو دیکھتا رہا۔ وہ اس سڑک کو شکستہ ٹریک سمجھتا ہے۔ بہت سے لوگ اس پر سفر کر چکے تھے۔ یہ زیر زمین کھدی ہوئی تھی اور اس سے آگے کچھ نظر نہیں آرہا تھا۔

شاعر پھر دوسری سڑک کی طرف دیکھتا ہے جو گھاس سے بھری تھی اور کم سفر کرتی نظر آتی تھی۔ فطرت کے لحاظ سے بہادر ہونے کے ناطے، وہ دوسری سڑک کا انتخاب کرتا ہے اور پہلی سڑک کو کسی اور دن کے لیے چھوڑ دیتا ہے، یہ اچھی طرح جانتے ہوئے کہ اسے اس پر واپس جانے کا موقع نہیں ملے گا۔ شاعر محسوس کرتا ہے کہ اس انتخاب سے اس کی آنے والی زندگی میں تمام فرق پڑے گا۔ بعد میں شاعر کی خواہش ہے کہ کاش وہ راستہ اختیار کر لیتا جو وہ چھوڑا تھا۔ یہ زندگی کی ستم ظریفی ہے۔ ہم اپنے لیے دستیاب تمام سڑکوں سے نہیں گزر سکتے، چاہے ہم کوئی بھی چاہیں۔

 شاعر اب محسوس کرتا ہے کہ اب سے کئی سالوں کے بعد وہ اس فیصلے کی طرف ’’سسکیاں‘‘ لے کر دیکھ رہا ہوگا۔ وہ بتا رہا ہو گا کہ چونکہ اس نے کم سفر کرنے والی سڑک اختیار کی تھی، اس لیے اس نے اس کی زندگی میں تمام فرق کر دیا۔

اس طرح شاعر انسانی زندگی کے بنیادی مسائل میں سے ایک کے بارے میں بہت سے مسائل میں سے صحیح انتخاب کرنے کا مسئلہ بیان کرتا ہے۔ ہم زندگی میں بہت سے متبادلات یا انتخاب میں آتے ہیں۔ لیکن ہم ایک وقت میں تمام انتخاب نہیں لے سکتے۔ نہ ہی ہم اپنے فیصلے کو تبدیل کر سکتے ہیں۔ لہذا، صحیح انتخاب کرنا ضروری ہے کیونکہ ہمارا مستقبل اس پر بہت زیادہ منحصر ہے۔ اگر ہم صحیح فیصلہ کرنے میں ناکام رہے تو ہماری زندگی مصائب سے بھری ہوگی۔ لیکن اگر ہم صحیح انتخاب کرنے کے لئے کافی خوش قسمت ہیں، تو ہم کامیاب ہوں گے.
