3 Phases Of Friendship Between Grandmother And Narrator
phase 1
Close friends
waked him up in morning
made him ready for school
school was attached to the temple
close friends in village
prayed in chorus
spent her time in reading books
Phase 2
Went to city
narrator started going to english school
both shared same room
grandmother hated English words and science
there was no teaching of god in eng school
music was for prostitutes and paupers
Phase 3
The bond of friendship snapped
bond of friendship broken
narrator began to study in a university
a separate room was given to him
Grandmother accepts her loneliness quietly
relaxed only in afternoon
did spinning and recited prayers
sat in the verandah
fed sparrows
Narrator goes abroad for higher studies
kissed his forehead silently
grandmother didn't show any emotions
Ending Time
narrator returned home after 5 years
collected all women
sang songs of home coming worriers
she didn't pray
mourning of sparrows
did not chirrup
they sat near the dead body
they flew away quietly
declared her end was near & lay peacefully in bed
