Had is the past tense and past participle of have. Had is sometimes used instead of 'if' to begin a clause which refers to a situation that might have happened but did not. For example, the clause 'had she been elected' means the same as 'if she had been elected'.
We use had to show Possession of something to someone in the Past. It means that someone had something. The Helping Verb 'Had' is used as the same with all the Subjects.

We use have had in the present perfect when the main verb is also "have":

We use had had in the past perfect when the main verb is also "have":
• Last weekend I just wanted to relax because I had had a busy week.
• The director told me he had had a meeting with the president.
• We had had some trouble with our washing machine, so we called a repairman.
• She woke up screaming because she had had a bad dream.
