 Leisure may be defined as the spare time in which we are not busy earning our livelihood. Life is not worth living if we are always busy in our worldly duties. Life is worth living if after doing our daily work we have some spare time. W.H. Davies has rightly said: " What is this life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare.” The world is full of beauty and charm. If we remain busy in our work, we are bound to miss the charm of life. Nature has many beauties. We must have spare time to enjoy them. There is much to watch among human beings.

 It is an interesting experience to stand on the roadside and watch the flow of traffic. To look at young generation , to see beauty passing by us and to watch the elegant hair styles of fashionably dressed people are rare pleasures which should not be missed . Stevenson condemns the “over - busyness “of the modern man in the essay, “An Apology for Idlers “. An over buys man poisons his own life and the life of others. He is a curse to himself and to society. He sows hurry and reaps indigestion. Our minds can be refreshed if we have time to stand idle and stare at things .

 Leisure has several uses over work gives us nerve knockdown we should one time to enjoy the beauty of alone. During leisure we can develop new takes an engineer or a technician can find some relaxation by reading a few novels an overburdened office worker can forget his files in gardening other hobbies can also be taken up in spare time. But we should not make a wrong the of leisure One should not waste one's spare time in gossiping or gambling Some people spend their leisure by talking all of others idle talk also leads to dangerous scandals and mutual mud throwing . It is common knowledge that idle talkers often disperse after violent quarrels or disputes Reading obscene books is another abuse of leisure. Every word can poison the human mind and the reader fails to perceive how he undergoes slow but steady moral degeneration. It is therefore, quite appropriate to say that it is more difficult to enjoy one's leisure than to keep one busy in some gainful work. Leisure is actually a double edged weapon. If it is carelessly used, it may cut the hands of a person but if it is used wisely and carefully, it would enable a person to develop his mental and physical faculties the right use of leisure means that an individual should read some good books or engage in some light but healthful activity.

 All great men attached due importance to their leisure. Pundit Jawaharlal All Nehru wrote most of his books when he was in the jail where he had a plenty of leisure. Oscar Wilde wrote his masterpiece De Prefunds while in jail. In fact many great persons have been able to discover their latent abilities only during leisure TS Eliot, who was previously employed in a bank, discovered in his moments of leisure that he was destined to be a poet and critic one can take up some useful hobbies during leisure. They are stamp collecting, playing on musical instruments, reading useful magazines and journals, photography and listening to the radio or watching the television. During leisure one can establish useful social relations. Writing articles, painting, playing some indoor and outdoor games are other hobbies. Many people know how to make the right use of leisure. Free - lance journalism is also the result of the right use of leisure. 

Summing up, we may say that the use or misuse of leisure depends upon the outlook of a person. If he is rightly educated, he will always make a proper use of leisure if he is not properly educated, he will misuse it and undo himself

 

 

فرصت کی اہمیت

فرصت کو فارغ وقت سے تعبیر کیا جا سکتا ہے جس میں ہم اپنی روزی کمانے میں مصروف نہیں ہوتے۔ اگر ہم ہر وقت اپنے دنیاوی کاموں میں مصروف رہیں تو زندگی جینے کے لائق نہیں۔ زندگی جینے کے قابل ہے اگر ہمارے روزمرہ کے کام کرنے کے بعد ہمارے پاس کچھ فالتو وقت ہو۔ ڈبلیو ایچ ڈیوس نے درست کہا ہے: "یہ زندگی کیا ہے، اگر خیال سے بھری ہو، تو ہمارے پاس کھڑے ہو کر دیکھنے کا وقت نہیں ہے۔" دنیا خوبصورتی اور دلکشی سے بھری پڑی ہے، اگر ہم اپنے کاموں میں مصروف رہیں تو زندگی کی دلکشی سے محروم ہو جائیں گے، قدرت کی بہت سی خوبصورتیاں ہیں، ہمیں ان سے لطف اندوز ہونے کے لیے فارغ وقت ہونا چاہیے، انسانوں میں دیکھنے کے لیے بہت کچھ ہے۔

 سڑک کے کنارے کھڑے ہو کر ٹریفک کے بہاؤ کو دیکھنا ایک دلچسپ تجربہ ہے۔ نوجوان  کو دیکھنا، ہمارے پاس سے گزرتی ہوئی خوبصورت Thing کو دیکھنا اور فیشن کے لباس میں  خوبصورت بالوں کے انداز کو دیکھنا نایاب لذتیں ہیں جن سے محروم نہیں ہونا چاہیے۔ اسٹیونسن نے مضمون میں جدید انسان کی "زیادہ مصروفیت" کی مذمت کی ہے، "بیکاروں کے لیے معافی"۔ ایک اوور انسان کو خریدتا ہے اپنی اور دوسروں کی زندگی کو زہر دیتا ہے۔ وہ اپنے لیے اور معاشرے کے لیے لعنت ہے۔ وہ جلدی بوتا ہے اور بدہضمی کاٹتا ہے۔ اگر ہمارے پاس بیکار کھڑے رہنے اور چیزوں کو گھورنے کا وقت ہو تو ہمارے ذہنوں کو تروتازہ کیا جا سکتا ہے۔

 کام کے دوران فرصت کے کئی استعمال ہوتے ہیں ہمیں اعصابی تناؤ کا باعث بنتا ہے ہمیں ایک باراکیلے کی خوبصورتی سے لطف اندوز ہونا چاہیے۔ فرصت کے دوران ہم نئی چیزیں تیار کر سکتے ہیں کوئی انجینئر یا کوئی ٹیکنیشن چند ناول پڑھ کر کچھ راحت حاصل کر سکتا ہے ایک زیادہ بوجھ دفتری کارکن باغبانی میں اپنی فائلیں بھول سکتا ہے دیگر مشاغل بھی فارغ وقت میں اٹھائے جا سکتے ہیں۔ لیکن فرصت کو غلط نہیں بنانا چاہیے کسی کو گپ شپ یا جوئے میں اپنا فارغ وقت ضائع نہیں کرنا چاہیے کچھ لوگ اپنی فرصت کو دوسروں کی سب باتیں کر کے گزار دیتے ہیں اس سے بھی خطرناک سکینڈلز اور آپسی کیچڑ اچھالنے کا باعث بنتے ہیں۔ یہ عام علم ہے کہ فضول گفتگو کرنے والے اکثر پرتشدد جھگڑوں یا جھگڑوں کے بعد منتشر ہو جاتے ہیں فحش کتابیں پڑھنا فرصت کا ایک اور غلط استعمال ہے۔ ہر لفظ انسانی ذہن کو زہر دے سکتا ہے اور قاری یہ سمجھنے میں ناکام رہتا ہے کہ وہ کس طرح سست لیکن مستحکم اخلاقی تنزلی سے گزر رہا ہے۔ لہٰذا یہ کہنا بالکل مناسب ہے کہ کسی فائدے کے کام میں مصروف رہنے سے زیادہ فراغت سے لطف اندوز ہونا زیادہ مشکل ہے۔ فرصت دراصل ایک دو دھاری ہتھیار ہے۔ اگر اسے لاپرواہی سے استعمال کیا جائے تو اس سے انسان کے ہاتھ کاٹ سکتے ہیں لیکن اگر اسے عقلمندی اور احتیاط سے استعمال کیا جائے تو یہ انسان کو اپنی ذہنی اور جسمانی صلاحیتوں کو نشوونما دینے کے قابل بناتا ہے فرصت کے صحیح استعمال کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ انسان کچھ اچھی کتابیں پڑھے۔ کچھ ہلکی لیکن صحت بخش سرگرمی میں مشغول ہوں۔

 

تمام عظیم آدمی اپنی فرصت کو اہمیت دیتے تھے۔ پنڈت جواہر لال آل نہرو نے اپنی زیادہ تر کتابیں اس وقت لکھیں جب وہ جیل میں تھے جہاں ان کے پاس کافی فرصت تھی۔ آسکر وائلڈ نے جیل میں رہتے ہوئے اپنا شاہکار ڈی پری فنڈز لکھا۔ درحقیقت بہت سے عظیم لوگ اپنی پوشیدہ صلاحیتوں کو صرف فرصت کے دوران ہی دریافت کر پائے ہیں، ٹی ایس ایلیٹ، جو پہلے ایک بینک میں ملازم تھے، نے اپنی فرصت کے لمحات میں دریافت کیا کہ ان کا مقدر شاعر اور نقاد بننا ہے، کوئی بھی مفید مشاغل اختیار کر سکتا ہے۔ فرصت کے دوران. وہ ڈاک ٹکٹ جمع کرنا، موسیقی کے آلات پر بجانا، مفید میگزین اور جرائد پڑھنا، فوٹو گرافی کرنا اور ریڈیو سننا یا ٹیلی ویژن دیکھنا۔ فرصت کے دوران مفید سماجی تعلقات قائم کر سکتے ہیں۔ مضامین لکھنا، پینٹنگ کرنا، کچھ انڈور اور آؤٹ ڈور گیمز کھیلنا دیگر مشاغل ہیں۔ بہت سے لوگ فرصت کا صحیح استعمال کرنے کا طریقہ جانتے ہیں۔ فری لانس جرنلزم بھی فرصت کے صحیح استعمال کا نتیجہ ہے۔
