It has been rightly said that the child is father of the man. Impressions received by a child in his early life shape the future man. The family is the best training ground. If the parents are smokers and drug addicts, the children fall an easy prey to this addiction. It is the foremost duty of parents to keep their children away from the use of drugs and intoxicants. Those parents who are not drug addicts will generally exercise a healthy influence on their children and they will not resort to drug taking. Children should be taught early in life how drug taking and wine led to the downfall of empires and families. Drunkards and lecherous kings did nothing to improve the lot of their subjects and they provoked revolts in their own countries. Intensive propaganda can be carried out in the classroom by giving the students training in moral and spiritual education.

Children should be persuaded early to understand that it is deleterious for the health of a nation if its citizens take drugs. Our leaders who are supposed to be Gandhi an in outlook should not be seen drinking in public or in five star hotels. They should set examples in Spartan simplicity and austerity. So far as living styles are concerned, people should not get the impression that their leaders are wearing masks. Their private and public lives should be like open books for people to study. The use of drugs should also not be depicted in films. Sometimes women with buxom bodies are shown taking drugs and resorting to sex in films. They also have a harmful effect on the minds of the young. The message of simplicity, sobriety and temperance should be given to the younger generation.
